INDEPENDENT SECONDARY EDUCATION ENTRANCE EXAM

If you haven’t yet obtained your Secondary School Graduate (ESO) diploma and are 18 years old—or will turn 18 within the calendar year of the exam—you can now achieve it through the official adult exams.
To earn the diploma, you must pass three evaluation areas: Scientific-Technological, Communication, and Social. These exams are held in April or June, usually on Saturdays, with sessions in the morning and afternoon.

What the exam is like
The Independent ESO Entrance Exam consists of three exam areas:
Scientific-Technological Area: Assesses Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Physics and Chemistry, Technology, as well as topics related to health and the natural environment.
Communication Area: Includes Spanish Language and Literature and a First Foreign Language (English).
Social Area: Covers Geography and History, Social Sciences, Citizenship and Human Rights, Visual Arts, Music, Economics, and Classical Culture.
Each test lasts two hours, and you must pass all three areas to obtain your ESO diploma.
Regarding registration, the deadlines are usually:
April session → submit applications in February
June session → submit applications between April and May
Registration can be done easily through the official form from the Ministry of Education or via the Lifelong Learning Portal.
Additionally, if you pass one or more areas, your grades are retained for future sessions, allowing you to progress step by step until you achieve your goal.
