The Andalusian Regional Government has announced a major change to the University Access Test (PAU) which will come into effect in the 2026/2027 academic year.

Changes in the weighting of General Sciences

One of the most significant changes affects the subject of General Sciences. For the next university entrance exams in 2026, this subject will no longer have a weighting coefficient of 0.2 in many university degrees, especially those linked to the fields of Science , Health Sciences , and Engineering and Architecture .

This change affects careers such as Medicine or Nursing , Physiotherapy , Dentistry , etc.

Changes in the weighting of Mathematics

Until now, some students chose Mathematics II and Applied Mathematics to Social Sciences II to maximize their admission grade in university degrees where both subjects were weighted with the maximum coefficient (0.2).

With the new weighting system, only one of the two math subjects will be considered —the one that benefits the student the most—along with a different subject. In other words, both subjects will not be used to raise the grade.

This change affects branches such as:

• • Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Psychology…)
  • Sciences (Biology, Statistics…)
  • Social Sciences and Law (Business Administration, Economics, Early Childhood Education…)

It does not affect:

• Arts and Humanities : only Applied Mathematics is considered.
• Engineering and Architecture : they weight Mathematics II with 0.2 and Applied Mathematics with a maximum of 0.1.
